November 16, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 5:45 pm

This Dragnet Debate Session has been cancelled!

Background: In July 2017, the Dutch senate passed a bill for a new Intelligence and Security Services Act, set to take effect from 01 January 2018. Targetted surveillance was already permitted, however this new Act will go further in also allowing untargetted surveillance, for example the monitoring of relatives of suspects. The Act also grants new surveillance powers such as data retention for three years and permission to share intelligence with foreign counterparts.
On Thursday 16 November the Responsible Data Science (RDS) team will host a panel discussion session where we will give opponents and proponents of the Act the opportunity to share their views, with the chance for active audience contribution also.
The full programme, moderator and panel members will be announced shortly, in brief:

16:00
Welcome and introduction
Panel introduction & position statements
Discussion and audience questions
Summing-up
17:00-17:45
